Dunphy v Brady - let battle commence!

Most amusing exchange from RTE between Liam Brady and Eamonn Dunphy after Liverpool v. Arsenal. Bit long, but you can't have everything, eh? And Souness even chips in with some sense! Whatever next?!

Flame attendants revealed as Chinese ‘paramilitaries’

"Nick Clegg, the Liberal Democrat leader, said he was "dismayed" about the heavy-handed tactics, which included jostling and pushing protesters to the ground. He asked: 'Who gave permission for the flame attendants to take part in the torch relay? Who were they? Were they accredited by the Security Industry Authority?'"

Very amusing indeed.

Please sponsor a short, overweight bloke to run 13.1 miles

From my good friend Mr Daniel Layzell:

The time of year has come again for me to run the Taunton Half Marathon. Each year seems to be harder than the last...Maybe its just me getting older. And why oh why do they add that last painful 0.1 miles to the end!

I have never tried to raise funds by doing any run. However this year things are slightly different. As many of you are aware a friend of mine, Nigel Wyatt (28) lost his battle with cancer in February. After Christmas Nigel was no longer able to live at home. The final weeks of his life were spent in an Exeter hospice run by Hospiscare.

Hospiscare (http://www.hospiscare.co.uk) is the charity that I am collecting for. The care that he received during these weeks was first class. But it went beyond physical care. On one occasion a member of the staff brought a Harris Hawk in to visithim.  Being confined to his bed I can tell you that this experience made Nigels day. It was small things like this that kept his morale high.

The funding required to run these hospices comes from 2 places. 1/3 is provided by the govenment. The rest has to be raised through fundraising.  Having visited Nigel in this hospice and heard how highly he spoke of the place is the inspiration behind me trying to raise as much as I can.

Please visit http://www.justgiving.com/danlayzell and sponsor me what ever you are able.

My travel email address book is limited and time is short, so please... please pass this email on to anyone who knew Nigel, knows me or anyone who you know would like to sponor me. Every bit raised will help. After all no one knows if they or someone they know will require the care that a hospice such as this can provide.

Many thanks for your support.
